John Smedley’s new store located on New Cavendish Street in the Marylebone area of London has given a renewed focus on the brand’s womenswear range.
Womenswear sales have been steadily growing in prominence, particularly since the company’s creative direction change in 2016. Since then, the company has reported that its womenswear fashion sales have increased by 35% via its retail and webstores.
This is the brand’s biggest store location to date, with a boutique ‘feel’, it displays the full fashion range across two floors with a mix of both men and women’s clothing collections on each.
The design also incorporates John Smedley’s dedication to British craftsmanship, with bespoke wooden lighting, vintage Ercol furniture, extra fine merino wool seating covers and Derbyshire marble with a “unique” rose polish “to represent the brand’s home territory, while steel racking systems nod to the industrial nature of John Smedley’s manufacturing processes.”
MD Ian Maclean reportedly said, “ the local area’s dedication to maintaining a mix of artisan brands, that represent the breadth of long-standing retailers, unique designers and desire to maintain a family-friendly village mentality, is one that we feel completely aligns with our own desires for our brand.”
