Nineteen teams from companies across the midlands took part in the latest Prima Solutions sponsored challenge event on the 29th September 2018.
The new location of Rutland Water in Leicestershire made a beautiful backdrop for the event and provided teams who had completed previous challenges not only a new location but a longer section on the water so they were all pleased that the sun was shining!
Mystery challenges appeared throughout the day focused on team-building and communication; skills crucial to the TwentyTwenty programs within the centres where young people build the communication and peer-working skills needed to thrive in the workplace after graduation.
The Twentytwenty team helped to marshall the event and cheered on the challengers at each and every stage.
After completing the marathon distance on water, wheels and foot there was a welcome and delicious stone baked pizza served by Peter Pizzeria, eaten whilst sharing stories of the day’s adventures and announcing the winners of the trophies: First team of 2, 3 and 4 people and the Team Spirit Award. The Star Fundraisers will be announced at the beginning of December.
A great day was had by all, and as always, that’s incredibly important to both us at Prima Solutions, and TwentyTwenty.
This event isn’t simply about completing a marathon distance – an impressive feat in itself – but an opportunity for those taking part to team-build with colleagues and friends, and have a great day out with a difference, supporting the work that TwentyTwenty do to change the lives of local, young people.
The event itself is only part of the story. In the months and weeks leading up to the big day, the teams taking on this challenge carry out an incredible amount of fundraising on behalf of TwentyTwenty; whether hosting bake sales in the office or fancy dress events, or attending car-boot sales, or collecting in the street.
To date, since 2016, the Prima Solutions TwentyTwenty Challenge events have raised nearly £50,000! Over the coming weeks as the 2018 teams complete their fundraising for this year, we’ll be able to announce the 2018 total, which we hope will be the highest yet.
We’re looking ahead to 2019 and making plans – as we always say – to host the best event yet. We say this confidently as based on feedback from the participants, volunteers and supporters; we improve the event year on year, making it the ideal team-builder, a fantastic challenge, and a great day out for every local business and organisation.
