The Prima Tiger Cup event, which started in 1994 has now run for 23 seasons and following 4 regional festivals, 4 match day experiences and over 1000 under 10 players taking part, it was the final day of this free to enter open rugby event on Saturday 15 April 2017.
It was a very special day for over 100 young players when they stepped onto the pitch at half time, in front of a full house, at Leicester Tigers Welford Road ground to celebrate their love and skill of the game and recognition as Prima Champions for this season.
A new focus and rules of play this season has seen the Prima Tiger Cup championing not just players and team’s abilities on the pitch but the behaviour and ethos within the sport, as well as the spirit provided by their coaches and parents from the side lines.
All 6 teams were crowned champions; Bournville and Oakham Rugby Club received the Prima Barker Shield for their efforts, Southwold and Kenilworth Rugby Club were awarded the Prima Fenton Bowl and Nottingham Corsairs along with Stamford Rugby Club left the ground as Prima Tiger Cup Champions 2017.
It was a great fun end to an amazing year of under 10’s Rugby and we are delighted to announce that we will continue to support the event for a further 2 years ensuring more teams and more youngsters will get the thrill of playing in this unique rugby season long fun event.
